Journey House Recovery Center proudly sponsors the SAARA of Virginia Voices for Recovery Luncheon & Awards

On May 19, Journey House Recovery Center had the privilege of joining those people at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden for the SAARA Voices for Recovery Luncheon and Awards.

Hosted each year by SAARA of Virginia, the Voices for Recovery Luncheon exists to publicly honor the individuals and organizations making a real, measurable difference across the Commonwealth. It is a moment to lift up the work that too often happens quietly behind the scenes.

Journey House Recovery Center co-founders Michael Tillem and Kimberly Braine-Tillem attended on behalf of Journey House, and were proud to be among the advocates, peers, and partners gathered to celebrate the recovery community.

Why This Sponsorship Matters to Us

Journey House Recovery Center sponsored this year’s luncheon and Voice for Recovery Awards. Peer support is at the heart of everything we do. At Journey House Foundation, our peer-to-peer model is built on the belief that lived experience is not just valuable, it is transformative. When someone who has walked the road of recovery stands beside a person just beginning that journey, something shifts. Hope becomes visible. Change becomes believable.

The Voice for Recovery Awards honor exactly that kind of impact. By sponsoring it, we wanted to affirm something we believe deeply: peer support specialists are not supplemental to recovery care. They are essential to it.

Voices That Carry Our Community Forward

The Virginia recovery community is filled with people doing extraordinary work, often with limited resources, enormous compassion, and a personal understanding of what is at stake. The Voices for Recovery Luncheon creates space to say thank you in a way that is public, intentional, and long overdue.

At Journey House, we are grateful to be part of a community that shows up for one another, for the people we serve, and for a shared vision of a Virginia where recovery is accessible to everyone.

To SAARA of Virginia, thank you for creating this moment each year. To every honoree and attendee, thank you for the work you do every single day. And to the peers who walk alongside people in recovery: your presence changes lives. We see you, and we celebrate you.
