A Place for Hope, Healing, and Connection
When someone begins the journey toward substance use disorder or addiction recovery, they’re seeking more than treatment; they’re looking for a new beginning. At Journey House Recovery Center, we believe that recovery is more than overcoming addiction to drugs or alcohol. It’s about rebuilding lives, restoring relationships, and creating pathways to lasting wellness.
Our programs are built on compassion, clinical excellence, and community support, helping individuals and families in Virginia and across the country find their way forward with confidence and dignity.
Comprehensive Support for Substance Use Disorders
Every person’s story is different and so is every recovery journey. That’s why Journey House Recovery Center offers personalized care for a wide range of substance use disorders, including alcohol, opioids, cocaine, methamphetamine, cannabis, and polysubstance use (using more than one drug or substance at the same time or within a short period of time).
In addition, Journey House recognizes that addiction rarely exists in isolation. Many individuals experience co-occurring mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, or trauma. Our integrated approach ensures that both substance use and behavioral health needs are addressed together, because we believe healing the whole person is the foundation for sustainable recovery.
Our programs provide services for:
- Alcohol Addiction Recovery: Therapy and group support designed to rebuild healthy habits and prevent relapse.
- Drug Addiction Treatment: Specialized counseling, education, and recovery skills for opioids, benzodiazepines, methamphetamines, and more.
- Co-Occurring Disorder Care: Comprehensive, trauma-informed treatment that supports both mental health and substance use recovery.
Healing That Involves the Whole Family
Substance use disorder affects everyone, not just the person using substances. At Journey House, we encourage family and loved ones participation whenever possible.
Family involvement isn’t required, but it can make a significant positive impact. Our team provides education, therapy referrals, and family support options to help loved ones understand the recovery process, rebuild trust, and set healthy boundaries.
For referral partners and care coordinators, this collaborative approach ensures continuity of care and better long-term outcomes.
When Relapse Happens: Responding with Compassion
Recovery isn’t always a straight line. At Journey House, we treat relapse as a treatment concern, not a personal failure.
If a client relapses during treatment, our team immediately reassesses their needs, adjusts the care plan, and determines if a higher level of care is appropriate. For those who relapse after completing treatment, we provide aftercare options that make returning to support simple and stigma-free.
Our goal is to be open and available so no one ever feels they have to start over alone.
Support That Extends Beyond Treatment
Recovery doesn’t end when formal treatment does. Through our aftercare and alumni programs, we help individuals stay connected and supported long after they complete care.
Aftercare services may include:
- Ongoing peer navigation and recovery coaching
- Community support groups and alumni check-ins
- Housing connections and resource referrals
- Court advocacy and linkage to medical or therapy services
We believe in a recovery continuum that evolves with each person’s needs, ensuring they always have a trusted team to turn to.
Peer Recovery Support: Hope from Lived Experience
One of the most impactful aspects of our approach is our Registered Peer Recovery Specialists (RPRS)—trained professionals with lived experience in recovery.
These specialists provide one-on-one coaching, recovery planning, and connection to vital resources like education, employment, and housing. Their empathy and firsthand understanding create a unique bond with clients—showing that recovery isn’t just possible, it’s achievable.
A Network of Care for Every Stage of Recovery
Journey House is more than one organization. It is a network of integrated support services designed to meet people where they are:
- Journey House Behavioral Health (JHBH) – Offering clinical treatment through PHP, IOP, and outpatient care.
- Journey House Recovery Residences (JHR) – Providing structured, sober living options.
- Journey House Foundation (JHF) – A nonprofit hub for community programs, peer navigation, and recovery events.
Together, they create a seamless recovery ecosystem that integrates treatment, housing, and ongoing peer support.
