Paul Meija Bio

Paul Mejia serves as the Intake & Housing Supervisor at Journey House Recovery Center, where he helps individuals take their first steps toward lasting recovery.

Paul is a Journey House alumnus who spent two years living in a Journey House recovery residence. After completing the program, he joined the team and worked in intake services for a year before pursuing a career in restaurant management. Over time, he felt called back to recovery work. When the opportunity arose to return to Journey House, he accepted immediately.

In his role today, Paul is often the first voice a potential participant hears. He understands how important that first conversation can be because he once made that same call from treatment four years ago. The tone he heard then, one of hope, dignity, and belonging, shaped his own recovery journey. He strives to offer that same experience to every individual and family who reaches out.

Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Addiction Studies. He is currently pursuing his Certified Substance Abuse Counselor credential and completing his Peer Recovery Specialist training. His work reflects his deep belief in peer empowerment and the power of shared experience.

Outside of work, Paul is a proud father of three children, who he calls his favorite people. He enjoys working out, playing video games, watching football and horror movies, exploring new foods, and appreciating unique and unconventional art.
