Sophia Mariano Bio

Sophia Mariano is an Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor at Journey House Behavioral Health who blends compassion, practical tools, and genuine connection to support people in every stage of recovery. She began her career in 2020 in Palm Beach County, providing harm reduction and peer support to individuals experiencing homelessness, and has since worked across detox, PHP, and IOP levels of care.

Along the way, she earned her Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Health Supervision and Management and her CSAC-Supervisee license, building a foundation of both professional expertise and lived understanding of the recovery process. Originally from South Florida, Sophia moved to Richmond in 2024, where her free time is often spent cooking and baking, browsing antique shops for hidden gems, enjoying a round of disc golf, or experimenting with her newest hobby: film photography. At home, she’s also known for bringing fierce competition to board game night with her husband, defending her title as reigning champion.

Journey House Behavioral Health is part of the Journey House Recovery Center network, an integrated system of affiliated services providing a full continuum of substance use disorder care from clinical addiction treatment to recovery housing to peer support and long-term recovery services.
